About

Hi, I’m Sepideh. I care a lot about the Internet - about the content on it and the business behind it, and about the people that create both.

I used to write about books and food and technology and Iranian diaspora culture, the last on Pars Arts , an English-language blog I started in late 2006. Thanks to Pars Arts, I’ve had the chance to interview really cool writers and filmmakers , in addition to reporting about more obscure topics, like endangered Iranian cheetahs . Arabic, Chinese, and Japanese translations of Pars Arts posts have been featured by the activist blog Global Voices Online , and popular Iranian news site RadioZamaneh.com has translated and published some of my work into Persian. Pars Arts is on hold now, as I spend most of my time working on my day job.

I’ve had numerous blogs over the last seven years. Some very personal, some not. Though this blog started more as a place to hold various freelance writing samples, I’m not actively pursuing freelancing now. So this is more a personal record of things I notice and the people that inspire me. Blogging has always been helpful to me in refining and articulating my thoughts and goals, and it’s an interesting exercise in (semi-)transparent living. (I should probably add here that everything I say on this blog is my own opinion and not a reflection of my company.)

I was born in Hamburg, Germany in 1984 and raised in the San Fernando Valley. I studied creative writing at the University of Southern California , and spent age 22 living in New York. Now I live in West LA with my husband, a web developer. I work at a very cool digital entertainment start-up in Santa Monica.

I am a fan of swimming pools, Creamsicles, and ugly sunglasses.
